GET THE KNACK!
THE KNACK WAS A FUCKING AMAZING BAND THAT KIND OF GOT LOST IN THE SHUFFLE OF HYPE AND PRESS BACKLASH. THE SAME MUSIC CRITICS THAT SHOWERED THEM WITH GALLONS OF PRAISE AT THE TIME WHEN THEIR FIRST ALBUM CAME OUT, SUDDENLY TURNED ON THEM AND BASICALLY HELPED TO MAKE THEM POSTER CHILDREN FOR THE RECORD COMPANY HYPE MACHINE. BUT BEHIND ALL THE FUSS WAS A GREAT ROCK N ROLL BAND THAT WAS INTEGRAL IN BRINGING GUITAR DRIVEN, SONG-CENTERED MUSIC BACK INTO THE MAINSTREAM CONSCIOUSNESS. NEVER FORGET!!!!

They were a fun band. I saw them in 1978, I think it was in San Jose. It was one of those auditoriums where there were seats all the way down to the stage -- no dance floor. When they took the stage I started dancing in the aisle right in front and some security guys came over and were trying to force me back into my seat. I'll never forget, Doug Feiger, the singer, came over to the edge of the stage and screamed at the security guys, "You leave her alone!!" With that the whole audience jumped to their feet cheering and dancing. It was brilliant.
